Gas Barrier Technologies, include Nylon-MXD6
Nylon-MXD6 is one of the crystalline polyamide resins, which is produced through polycondensation of meta-xylylene diamine (MXDA) with adipic acid under MGC's own technology. Nylon-MXD6 is a unique aliphatic polyamide resin which contains meta-xylylene groups in the molecule as shown below:
Structures of Nylons

The features of Nylon-MXD6 in food packaging applications are the followings:
Excellent Gas Barrier Performance
the best gas barrier property of all nylon resins
better gas barrier over EVOH in a humid atmosphere
Superior Recyclability
easy to recycle without any gel formulation or decomposition
Good Processability
easy to be stretched and/or thermoformed because of the moderate crystalization speed
Good Retortability
keeps excellent gas barrier property even after retorting or boiling tratment
Various Combination with Other Polymers
easy to manufacture multilayered containers by co-extrusion or co-injection combination with other polymers
Improvement for Other Nylons
improve properties and/or processing window for other nylons
